Welcome to the home page of the Human Communication Research Centre (HCRC), an interdisciplinary research centre at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.

When people communicate, they process vast quantities of information. HCRC brings together theories and methods from several formal and experimental disciplines to understand better how this happens. We focus on spoken and written language; we also study communication in other media — visual, graphical and computer-based.

HCRC brings together researchers from the Institute for Communicating and Collaborative Systems (ICCS) in the School of Informatics, and from the School of Philosophy, Psychology, and Language Sciences and the Department of Psychology in Glasgow.
